Athens
A city overwhelmed of history and archaological treasures

Athens is the capital of the Greek territory full of history, pictures, memories.

Athens began its existence by Kecropa, its first king, and this is why it was first named Cecropia or Kepropeia. Its first inhabitants are considered the Pelasgians and after the period of Kecropa, the Ionians settled in the region. Of course, Athens, according to Plato's Timaeus, is inhabited since 9,700 BC. The final name generated after the duel between the god Poseidon and the goddess Athena, who won the battle and the inhabitants named the area "Athens" in her honor.

Athens in the 5th century BC is a superpower, a leading city-state. Her navy prevailed across the Mediterranean and trade flourished because of the port of Piraeus.

Apart from the power in trade, military and naval power, Athens is considered the creator of modern western culture through the birth of democracy, the construction of the Parthenon, the endless theaters, the first water systems, and many other infrastructures that have been discovered over time.

It should be emphasized that Athens is identified to be the cradle of culture in the entire world, where Plato and Socrates have established its academies as well as have taught great philosophers and thinkers of global influence, such as Thalis, Diogenes and others.

Indulge in the universal magic of the city and explore all its treasures. Athens, the city that never sleeps, will fascinate you in all your excursions.
