Wine Tasting Experience, Ancient Corinth and Ancient Nemea, full-day, private tour 🇬🇷
Nemea is well-known for producing the most qualitative and tasteful wine in Greece for thousands of years.
We start our tour on the peninsula of Peloponnese, which is rich in ancient history, outstanding landscapes, crystal clear seas and sandy beaches. On our way, we cross a part of one of the most important processional roads in ancient Greece, the Sacred Way (ancient Iera Odos) in which we regard the Sanctuary of Aphrodite outside Eleusis. We have a quick stop to walk across the pedestrian bridge of the exquisite Corinth Canal that separates the Peloponnese peninsula from the rest of Greece and connects the Saronic Gulf with the Corinthian Sea.
Moving on, we steer towards Ancient Corinth which lays on the northern foothills of the Acrocorinth hill, around the Archaic Temple of Apollo. In the archaeological site, we meet the Asklepieion and the Lerna Fountain, the Peirene Fountain, the Roman Odeion (Odeum), the Glauke Fountain, the Theater, the Bema of Saint Paul and the Temple of Apollo, one of the earliest Doric temples in the Peloponnese and the Greek mainland, an emblem for the Greek city of Corinth, reflecting its growth and prosperity. We visit the archaeological museum which is located in the center of the archaeological site of ancient Corinth with exhibits from prehistoric times until the Byzantine period.
We continue our tour to Ancient Nemea, the sanctuary of Zeus, which was once the venue for the biennial Nemean Games, held in honor of the god Zeus and became one of the great Panhellenic festivals. It must be noted that Hercules carried out in Nemea his first labor, the slaying of the lion that had been sent by Hera to destroy Nemea.
Inside the archaeological site, we meet the Ancient Athletic Stadium with the well-preserved tunnel, the Sanctuary, the Temple of Zeus and the Archaeological Museum where we admire the collection of Gold of Aidonia, an exquisite assortment of gold rings, seals and beads.
Driving through the vineyards of the largest Greek viticulture wine production zone with the finest indigenous varieties, we visit one of the best wineries in the Peloponnese peninsula. There, we explore in-depth how wine is produced by learning the wine-making stages and we experience the exclusive taste of premium local wines with precious and tempting aromas.
Our tour has come to its end and we get our way back to Athens and if you still have the strength and mood for further explorations in the paved old city of Athens, we drop you off in Plaka, optionally, as our final stop.
*Significant Note: A minimum participation of 2 people is necessary for the private tour to be performed.
