Ancient Delphi, Arachova, Levadia and Thebes, full-day, private tour 🇬🇷

Early in the morning, we drive towards the national highway enjoying the beautiful scenery of Greek nature as we journey by the artificial lake of Yliki until we reach the Archaeological Museum of Thebes, one of the most important museums of Greece since some of its collections are rare or unique. Furthermore, we visit the Byzantine tower in the museum’s yard that had been built above the Bronze Age Acropolis ruins, which of course can be seen via the glass floor.
Following, we ascend the slopes of the beautiful mountain of Parnassus, where we meet during our route with beautiful villages with particular topographical and perfect harmonics with their natural construction until we reach the UNESCO’s World Heritage Archaeological Site of Ancient Delphi. Inside the archaeological site, we admire ancient buildings such as the Athenian treasury, which was dedicated to the god Apollo, the Temple of Apollo and the Oracle, also known as the ‘navel’ of the earth, the Ancient Stadium, the Gymnasium as well as many other ancient monuments ending up at the archaeological museum with Gold and Ivory statues not to mention the famous Charioteer. Then, we visit the Ancient Temple of Athena Pronaia, a unique masterpiece of ancient Greek architecture.
We make a quick stop at the modern village of Delphi and we drive straight to the picturesque village of Arachova to enjoy our lunch and some free time to wander through the narrow paved streets, stare at the view from the stone bridge and the true gem of the village, the steep rock with the clock. In the old days, this particular rock was used as a fridge for the cheeses of the city, thus it was named ‘Tyrias’ which means cheese. Arahova is famous for the local delicious Formaela cheese.
Finally, we drive to the beautiful scenery of Levadia where we are impressed by the springs of Krya and the Herkyna river. Running waters with small and numerous waterfalls, stone bridges and nature in its grandeur with huge age-old plane trees as well as a small gorge compose the water paradise of Levadia.
Our tour has come to its end and we get our way back to Athens and if you still have the strength and mood for further explorations in the paved old city of Athens, we drop you off in Plaka, optionally, as our final stop.
